Wandsworth Armed Forces Day

Sunday 7 July

As a local community, Wandsworth is incredibly fortunate to have a variety of past and present residents who have dedicated their lives to service. Join us on Sunday 7 July in Battersea Park to celebrate these service people with a variety of free and un-ticketed activities.

Wandsworth Armed Forces Day is a perfect trip out for all ages and can be paired perfectly with a trip to the Cricket Pitch to watch Wandsworth’s cutest furry friends in the Battersea Dog Show! All this, alongside community stalls, fairground rides, and a bouncy castle & soft play for the little ones.

There’s loads to check out over the day, including:

  • With local cadet, military, veteran and emergency service groups in attendance. Representation includes army, air and sea cadets, Royal Chelsea Hospital, Royal British Legion, and representation from London’s Ambulance, Fire and Police services.

  • Check out full-sized replicas of the Battle of Britain Spitfire and it’s WWI equivalent the SE5A!

  • Get hands on with the National Army Museums’ historic collection. See the uniform and equipment used by soldiers through the centuries and hear the stories about their service. Then, grab your trowel, brush and fedora and join us in discovering the amazing world of military archaeology!

  • Performing traditional marches and patriotic tunes over the day.

  • Put yourself to the test or race your mates on the army-style assault course including scramble nets, barb wired crawls, tug-o-war and more!
